Oluremi Tinubu urges support, empowerment for persons with disabilities
By Kunle Sanni –
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called for stronger national commitment to inclusion and accessibility as the world marks the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
In a message released on Wednesday, Mrs Tinubu said the day serves as a reminder of the country’s responsibility to ensure that all citizens, regardless of ability, can participate fully in national life.
She highlighted this year’s theme, “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress,” noting that social development cannot be achieved without empowering persons with disabilities.
“A truly inclusive Nigeria must ensure that persons with disabilities are supported and empowered to be independent,” the first lady said.
She joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the day and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to creating opportunities that allow people with disabilities to thrive and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
“Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025,” she added.
