The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has constituted a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from the party’s recent primary election and restore unity among members.
The state Chairman of the APC, Kolawole Babatunde, disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Akure on Friday.
Babatunde said the committee was established to engage aggrieved aspirants and stakeholders with a view to resolving disagreements and preventing further divisions within the party.
According to him, the panel is chaired by the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Prince Biyi Poroye, who has been tasked with leading efforts to reconcile all aggrieved members.
He expressed confidence that the committee would promote dialogue and strengthen cohesion ahead of future political activities in the state.
The APC chairman also reacted to comments recently made by a former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Rasaq Obe, during a television interview.
Babatunde said the remarks were Obe’s personal views and should not be interpreted as the official position of the Ondo State chapter of the APC.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to internal democracy and peaceful conflict resolution, assuring members that the leadership remained focused on fostering unity and ensuring that all stakeholders were carried along.
