Mo Bimpe slams online critics, insists her marriage is not threatened

Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyemade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, has addressed online criticism over her interaction with fellow actor Jide Awobona at a movie premiere in Lagos.

A video captured during the Mama Deola movie premiere in Lagos on September 2 showed Mo Bimpe resting her arm on Jide Awobona’s shoulder while they engaged in a conversation, with her husband, Lateef Adedimeji, seated beside them.

The video quickly gained traction online, with some viewers suggesting that Lateef appeared uncomfortable with their closeness and questioning where the line should be drawn between friendliness and appropriate boundaries.

Responding to the criticism, Mo Bimpe took to her Instagram page on Sunday to defend her marriage, insisting that her husband is secure and that their marriage is not threatened. She also said her marriage should not be subjected to public scrutiny.

In her words, “A one-minute clip of myself & Jide has somehow become a topic of public analysis. It’s fascinating how a normal conversation between friends has become suspicious to some of you. Not every marriage is built on fear, insecurity, and constant monitoring. Some marriages are built on trust, friendship, respect, and confidence”.

“The fact that so many of you found that interaction strange says more about the relationships you’re used to than it does about mine. Not every marriage is toxic; there are still healthy marriages, but I understand if you can’t relate,” she added.

“My husband is a secure man. A brief conversation with a family friend does not threaten our marriage or require anyone’s concern,” she said.

Mo Bimpe and Lateef have been married since December 2021 and welcomed triplets earlier in 2026. Jide Awobona has also been a longtime friend of the couple and has often appeared at family events and occasions involving their children.
