Actress Yetunde Ogunlade cries for help after being scammed

Actress Yetunde Ogunlade has cried out for help after suffering business setbacks following a scam.

The actress, who is also the founder of Adunni Food Hub, a wholesale and retail outlet for food items, including dried fish, snails, locust beans, fresh meat and pepper, took to her Instagram page on Sunday to lament her situation after an agent failed to deliver customers’ orders to the suppliers.

In a video accompanied by a lengthy post, Ogunlade explained that the incident had dealt a major blow to her business, particularly following the backlash from customers whose goods were allegedly taken away. She revealed that her business had been labelled a scam.

The visibly distraught actress broke down in tears while explaining that affected customers had started demanding refunds, leaving her indebted to them. She repeatedly cried out, “Mo ti jẹ gbèsè” (I am in debt).

Ogunlade further revealed that she ventured into the business as a means of survival and to cater for her children as a single mother. She added that she had invested her money, time and energy in the business, hoping to see it grow.

In her post, the actress warned business owners to be cautious when dealing with agents, noting that sharing her experience publicly had not been easy but was necessary to help other vendors learn from it.

She urged vendors not to let desperation for sales push them into trusting people blindly. She advised them to verify agents, confirm every arrangement, keep evidence of transactions and protect their money and businesses.

“Not every opportunity is a good opportunity, and not everyone who approaches you for business has your best interests at heart,” she added.
