BREAKING: Harry Kane wins 2026 Ballon d’Or

Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane has won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Englishman to claim football’s most prestigious individual award since Michael Owen in 2001.
Kane received the honour on Monday at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony held at the London Palladium in London, beating Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and other leading contenders.
The 33-year-old earned the recognition following an outstanding 2025-26 campaign, scoring 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country.
At Bayern Munich, Kane played a key role in the German side’s domestic success, helping the club retain its Bundesliga title with his exceptional goalscoring form.
Meanwhile, his victory ends England’s 25-year wait for a winner of the men’s Ballon d’Or, after Owen.
Kane’s triumph marks a major milestone in his career after years of prolific performances in European football.
Barcelona youngster Yamal, however, received the men’s Young Talent of the Year award, while the ceremony celebrated the outstanding achievements of footballers across several categories.
The Ballon d’Or, presented annually by France Football, recognises the world’s best-performing footballers and remains one of the most coveted individual honours in the sport.
