Ondo by-election: APM accuses APC of offering ₦100,000 to influence voters

By Boye Oyeyemi
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, Sunday Oludare Falae, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of allegedly offering ₦100,000 to local party leaders to influence voters ahead of the senatorial by-election.
Falae made the allegation during a campaign tour of Ondo West, where he questioned the ruling party’s reported distribution of money and expressed confidence that financial inducements would not determine the outcome of the election.
He argued that voters had become more conscious of their political choices and would no longer allow monetary offers to influence their decisions at the polls.
“The people know what they have suffered under poor representation. No amount of money can buy their conscience again,” Falae said.
The APM candidate also questioned the motive behind the alleged payments, asking whether the money was intended to compensate residents for the hardships they had endured or persuade them to support another term of representation.
Falae maintained that residents of Ondo Central were seeking a change from what he described as poor representation and economic hardship. He presented the APM as an alternative, promising to provide purposeful representation if elected.
He urged voters to reject monetary inducements and remain committed to their convictions, insisting that their votes should reflect their expectations of elected officials rather than immediate financial gains.
The APC had yet to respond to the allegation at the time of filing this report.
