Fresh resignations hit Makinde’s administration as three key appointees step down

The administration of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has suffered another significant setback following the unexpected departure of three key political appointees.
Among those stepping down from their positions is Sunday Olugbenga Falana, a prominent member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission.
Additionally, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, along with the governor’s Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, officially tendered their resignations.
All three officials formally submitted their resignation letters on November 2, 2026, with their decisions taking immediate effect across their respective departments.
While communicating his decision through the chief of staff, Falana expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve, though he refrained from stating a reason for his exit.
Similarly, Ojo thanked Makinde for the confidence reposed in him since his appointment in June 2026, without revealing the specific motivation behind his sudden departure.
In contrast to his colleagues, Oyeleke openly attributed his resignation to a working environment that he felt was no longer conducive to fulfilling the aspirations of his constituents.
Consequently, these simultaneous departures have drawn heightened attention to internal political developments within the state as alignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
