Actress Adunni Ade to sue Instablog, Tolanitalks over alleged defamatory report

Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has threatened to institute legal action against popular blog Instablog and AI-powered blog Tolanitalks over the publication and circulation of what she described as false information concerning the birth of her daughter.

The actress recently revealed that she welcomed a baby girl two years ago but kept the development away from public attention until her birthday celebration on June 8, 2026. She explained that the decision was aimed at protecting her privacy and peace of mind, stressing that no home was broken in the process of having her child.

Controversy, however, followed the announcement after a post shared by Instablog suggested that Adunni had admitted that the child’s father was unaware of the birth until shortly before the naming ceremony. The claim sparked speculation on social media that the actress had a child with a married man.

Reacting to the report, Adunni shared screenshots on her Instagram page and accused the blog of deliberately misrepresenting her comments. She alleged that a comment she made elsewhere was merged with another user’s remark to create the impression that she personally responded in a manner that fuelled the speculation.

“Instablog must prove that I replied to that user the way they portrayed it. For over a decade, I have endured bullying, ridicule and false narratives. I have ignored many of these things and even issued warnings in the past, but this time I am prepared to seek legal redress,” she said.

The actress also criticised Tolanitalks for allegedly reposting and amplifying the report without verifying its authenticity. She maintained that the platform’s claims were defamatory and insisted that those responsible would have to defend their actions in court.

According to Adunni, the publication of the reports has subjected her to unnecessary public scrutiny and false assumptions about her personal life.

Meanwhile, Tolanitalks has reportedly apologised to the actress. In a post shared on Friday, the platform said it was unaware that the information was inaccurate and had relied on Instablog as its source. As of the time of filing this report, Adunni had not publicly responded to the apology.
