Aiyedatiwa urges new commissioner, advisers to deliver results

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has charged the newly appointed commissioner, special advisers, tutors-general and members of government boards to prioritise service delivery and deliver measurable results for the people.

Aiyedatiwa gave the charge on Thursday while swearing in the new appointees and inaugurating chairmen and members of various commissions and boards at the International Centre for Culture and Events, The Dome, along Igbatoro Road, Akure.

The governor warned the appointees against rivalry, bureaucratic obstruction, mediocrity and misuse of public trust, stressing that political appointments should be regarded as a responsibility to serve rather than a reward for personal gratification.

Among those sworn in were Erelu Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba as commissioner for Special Duties and six special advisers, while Iwagun Austin Olusola, Dr. Jogbodo Bosede and Fasawe Toluwalase Abayomi assumed office as tutors-general for Ondo South, Central and North senatorial districts respectively.

The governor also inaugurated new leadership for the Civil Service Commission, Sports Council, State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission, Muslim Welfare Board, Christian Welfare Board, Competition and Consumer Protection Agency, and Cocoa Revolution and Management Board.

Aiyedatiwa urged the appointees to uphold merit, transparency, professionalism and due process, while working as “one administration and one team.” He also directed them to familiarise themselves with the “OUR EASE” development agenda and ensure that government policies translate into tangible benefits for residents.

The governor disclosed that following a mid-year review of the 2026 budget, the state’s appropriation had increased from N524.411 billion to N769.384 billion, with additional funding targeted at roads, water, healthcare and other infrastructure. He said at least five kilometres of roads would be constructed in each of the 18 local government areas.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Oloruntoba thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged that they would deploy their experience and expertise to justify the appointments and contribute to the development of the state.
