Aiyedatiwa vows action on UNIMED panel report

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has praised the Visitation Panel established to review the operations of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, describing their work as vital to institutional reform and academic growth.
He gave the commendation on Monday while receiving the panel members at his office in Akure, where they submitted a two-volume report outlining their findings and recommendations.
The Governor applauded the panel’s objectivity and focus on institutional roles rather than individuals, noting that such an approach is essential for sustainable development in the education sector.
“What makes me particularly pleased is the fact that you focused not on individuals, but on the positions they occupy. That is how institutions are built and sustained,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa assured that the recommendations would not be ignored but critically reviewed and implemented to drive meaningful reform in the state’s university system.
He emphasized the goal of transforming UNIMED into a world-class institution that offers a competitive and top-tier academic environment for students and researchers.
Panel chairman, Professor Victor Olumekun, said the team spent eight weeks evaluating UNIMED’s structures and systems, with emphasis on institutional processes, accountability, and performance.
Olumekun also recommended regular performance reviews for university leadership to foster continuous improvement and strengthen administrative focus on institutional goals.
