APC South-West youths back Oyebanji ahead of Ekiti governorship poll

Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress from the South-West on Thursday staged a solidarity walk in Ado-Ekiti in support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 governorship election in the state.

The rally, led by the APC South-West Zonal Youth Leader, Adaramola Adesuyi, attracted party youths and support groups from across the region, who marched through major parts of the state capital before gathering at the Government House.

Addressing journalists, Adesuyi said the exercise was organised to recognise the governor’s performance in office and mobilise young voters to participate actively in the forthcoming election.

“This mobilisation is to encourage youths across the state to come out in large numbers and support the continuation of programmes and policies that have positively impacted their lives,” he said.

Some aides to the governor, including the Special Assistant on Youth Development, Maxwell Ajayi, and the Special Assistant on Special Duties, Ayomide Ojo George, commended the administration’s youth-focused initiatives, citing empowerment schemes and capacity-building opportunities.

They maintained that the government had created avenues for greater youth participation in governance and development across the state.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the governor, the Director-General of the Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Oso Omotosho, urged young people not to be complacent but to ensure massive voter turnout on election day.

The event ended with renewed calls for increased youth involvement in politics and a commitment by party supporters to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the governorship poll.
