Be patient, Tinubu committed to improved power supply – Adelabu tells Nigerians

By Adejayan Gbenga

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Friday urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, assuring that the government is addressing the foundational structural issues that have bedevilled the power sector for years.

He described the ongoing improvements in power supply across the country as just the beginning compared to what is expected in the coming years.

Speaking with journalists shortly after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Agodi Prayer Ground in Ibadan, Adelabu expressed optimism that the sector will, in the near future, deliver significantly improved service, ensuring power supply to every Nigerian home, household, business, institution, and industry.

Adelabu also noted that Oyo State has the potential to become the leading economy in the country, adding that with the concession of the Ikere Gorge Dam, business and other related activities would thrive in the state.

“In Oyo State, we have great potential, and we have made significant progress. We just witnessed the concession of the Ikere Gorge Hydropower Plant.

“The process began in 1979 but was abandoned midway. However, we revived it, and we are committed to bringing light back to Oke Ogun and Oyo State. We have succeeded in that effort.

“You’ve seen numerous substations approved for Oyo State under President Tinubu’s administration. As they say, charity begins at home—Oyo State must witness improved electricity and power supply.

“But I appeal to our people to trust us, be patient, and maintain their confidence. Nigeria and Oyo State will never remain the same. As you’ve heard, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to lighting up the entire country, and Oyo State will be part of that transformation.”
