EFCC honoured with Security Partnership Award by Nigeria Police Force

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, conferred a “Security Partnership Recognition Award” on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in recognition of the Commission’s outstanding support in combating various forms of criminality across the country.

The award was presented during the second edition of the NPF Awards and Commendations ceremony, held at the Police Resource Center in Abuja.

According to the Police, the EFCC was honoured for its invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s internal security, particularly through its commitment to fighting terrorism, kidnapping, cybercrime, and other organized crimes in partnership with the Force.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, while addressing attendees, said the event was designed to celebrate outstanding police officers and recognize other government agencies that have partnered with the NPF in its mission to ensure national safety and order.

“The officers we celebrate today are extraordinary not because of fame or fortune, but because they perform ordinary duties in extraordinary ways,” Egbetokun said. “To our partners like the EFCC, your support and collaboration continue to strengthen our shared resolve to secure Nigeria. The threats we face—from terrorism to cybercrime—are constantly evolving, and we must continue to adapt through innovation and shared intelligence.”

He emphasized that excellence in service should not be viewed as an endpoint, but as a continuous standard for all security operatives.

The high-profile event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the special guest of honour. Others in attendance included Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma; Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam; Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla, who represented the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.

Also present were members of the National Assembly, heads of security agencies and parastatals, and several former Inspectors General of Police.
