Fathia Williams premieres Efunroye: The Unicorn ahead of May release

Veteran Nollywood filmmaker, Fathia Williams, has premiered her latest movie, Efunroye: The Unicorn, ahead of its nationwide cinematic release.
Efunroye: The Unicorn is a biopic that centres on the life of a legendary merchant and kingmaker, Madam Efunroye Tinubu. It was produced by Fathia Williams and directed by a trio of Abbey Lanre, Adebayo Tijani, and Tope Adebayo Salami. Its executive producers include Niyi Akinmolayan, Kemi Anibaba, and Diran Adeyinka.
The movie premiere, which held at IMAX Cinema/Filmhouse Cinema on Sunday evening, featured performances and notable fashion on the red carpet. The event also attracted prominent Nollywood figures, including Toyin Abraham, Saidi Balogun, Laide Bakare, Wunmi Toriola, Zainab Bakare, Dayo Amusa, Rotimi Salami, among others.
Cast members include Fathia Williams, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini (Itele), Ibrahim Chatta, Muyiwa Ademola, Saheed Balogun, Mercy Aigbe, Femi Branch, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Layi Wasabi, Kamo State, Femi Adebayo, Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Eniola Ajao, Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Wunmi Ajiboye, Foluke Daramola, Taiwo Ibikunle, Akin Olaiya, Olaiya Igwe, Yemi Solade, Jomiloju Olumbe, and Bukky Wright.
The film is an artistic interpretation of Madam Tinubu’s 19th-century life, exploring themes of power, cultural identity, and resistance to colonialism.
The movie is set for a nationwide cinematic release on May 1, 2026, and features a stellar cast, including Fathia Williams, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Chatta, Femi Adebayo, and Mercy Aigbe, among others.
