Former Deputy Governor Gbolarumi clinches Oyo PDP governorship ticket

Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primary election was conducted on Sunday across the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State, with party delegates participating in the process.

The collation of results was held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Ibadan in the presence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, party stakeholders, and security agencies.

The results were announced by the Chairman of the PDP gubernatorial primary election in Oyo State, Tolulope Awoniyi, after the final collation.

According to the results, Gbolarumi polled 3,615 votes to defeat his opponent, Amofin Beulah Adeoye, who scored 22 votes.

Awoniyi further disclosed that 3,640 delegates were accredited out of 3,694 registered members.

He subsequently declared Gbolarumi as the winner, having secured the highest number of valid votes cast.

With the outcome, Gbolarumi becomes the PDP flagbearer in Oyo State for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
