Late Hubert Ogunde’s first son, George, is dead

George Ogunde, the first child and son of the late theatre icon Hubert Ogunde, has passed away.
George’s sister, Dayo Ogunde, shared the sad news in a Facebook post on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Mourning the passing of her elder brother, Dayo Ogunde said, “It’s hard to say goodbye, Brother mi, our first child in the Ogunde clan. But we take solace in the fact that you are in a better place.
“You were such a wonderful and friendly soul. May your soul continue to rest in the bosom of your maker.
“Goodnight George Ogunde. Omo Gbegande Esiwu Ijoku,” Ogunde wrote.
Just like his late father, George Ogunde was also a theatre practitioner and had his own troupe.
It is common knowledge that a number of the late Ogunde’s children took after the thespian.
George’s younger brother, Owobo, is also in the film industry and became a popular face after taking the role of Bashorun in Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.’
George joins some of the offspring of Hubert Ogunde who had passed on. In 2019, the Ogunde family lost Afolabi Ogunde-Kikiowo.
As at the time of filing this report, the Ogunde family is yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of death, location, and burial arrangements of the late George Ogunde.
