Makinde visits Adelabu over family abduction, says rescue efforts ongoing

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Friday paid a solidarity visit to former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, following the abduction of Adelabu’s younger sister, Mrs Busayo John-Paul, and her twin sons by suspected kidnappers.

The governor visited Adelabu at his residence in the Iyaganku area of Ibadan, where he expressed concern over the incident and conveyed his sympathy to the family during the difficult period.

Makinde assured the former minister that the state government was working closely with security agencies to secure the safe release of the victims and ensure those responsible for the crime are apprehended.

The visit came days after Mrs John-Paul and her twin sons were reportedly kidnapped by armed men along the Ring Road corridor near the Challenge area of Ibadan.

The incident has generated widespread concern across Oyo State, with residents and political stakeholders calling for urgent action to address the growing threat of kidnapping.

Sources close to the family said the governor used the visit to reassure Adelabu that efforts to rescue the abductees were being intensified and that security agencies remained committed to resolving the situation.

Makinde also reiterated his administration’s determination to strengthen security across the state and protect residents from criminal activities.

As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the abducted woman and her children remained unknown, while security operatives continued search-and-rescue efforts aimed at securing their freedom.
