Military, paramilitary officers begin annual sports fiesta in Osun

Military and paramilitary officers in Osun State will gather next week in Osogbo, the state capital, for a sports fiesta aimed at strengthening relationships and promoting fitness among the officers.
The second edition of the sports event, tagged Military and Paramilitary Games 2024 (MiPaG 2024 Championship), will kick off on September 16 with indoor games and conclude on September 23 with football matches.
The coordinator of the fiesta, Mr. Oluremi Bankefa, emphasized that the annual event provides an opportunity for security operatives and other officers to interact, foster better relationships, and maintain physical fitness.
Bankefa stated, “The Military and Paramilitary Sports Fiesta is back. This is the second edition. We decided to hold this sporting event annually, not just to keep fit but to strengthen our working relationships through sports.”
He added, “We have already reached out to interested athletes. Some of the featured games include Ludo (male and female), Draughts (male and female), Scrabble (male and female), 100m (male and female), 200m (male and female), 4x4m relay (male and female), Javelin (male and female), Shot Put (male and female), Volleyball, Ayo Olopon (male and female), and Chess (male and female).”
“This is an event we always look forward to. We’ve asked interested military and paramilitary officers to contact 08034974466 for registration and more details. The games will begin on September 16, 2024, at Osogbo City Stadium at 10 a.m.,” he added.
Bankefa also announced that the football matches for the MiPaG 2024 Championship will commence on September 23, either at Ataoja or Osogbo Grammar School. The fiesta is organized by the Osun State Military and Paramilitary Sports Officers’ Association.
Participating agencies include the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Immigration, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Vehicle Inspection Office, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the State Fire Service.
