Ondo APC moves to reconcile aggrieved members after party primaries

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has distanced itself from comments made by a former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Rasaq Obe, over claims that the party could lose the state in the 2027 elections.

The state APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, stated this on Friday while addressing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Akure. He said Obe’s remarks reflected his personal opinion and not the position of the party.

Speaking on plans to foster party unity, Babatunde announced the inauguration of a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from the party’s recent primary election and strengthen internal unity.

He said the committee would be chaired by the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Prince Biyi Poroye, with the responsibility of engaging aggrieved aspirants and party stakeholders.

According to him, the committee is expected to resolve disputes through dialogue and ensure that disagreements from the primaries do not affect the party’s future.

“Our goal is to ensure that every grievance is resolved amicably and that all stakeholders remain committed to the progress of the party,” Babatunde said.

He stressed that the APC remained committed to promoting unity and inclusiveness, adding that every member of the party would be carried along in the reconciliation process.

The chairman expressed confidence that the committee would successfully restore harmony within the party and position the APC for future political contests in the state.
