Ondo elders say Tinubu remains popular, predict APC victory

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State and member of the PBAT Mandate Elders Forum, Dr. Kola Ademujimi, has dismissed claims that the party’s candidates could struggle in the 2027 general elections following the review of its primary election results.
Ademujimi said the candidates cleared by the party’s National Working Committee, including President Bola Tinubu, remained popular and possessed the political strength to secure victory at the polls.
He described concerns raised by some aggrieved aspirants over the NWC’s review of the primaries as baseless, insisting that the exercise would strengthen rather than weaken the party by ensuring that only duly recognised candidates emerged.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains immensely popular in Ondo State. Any suggestion that the National Working Committee’s review of the primaries will negatively affect the party’s electoral fortunes is merely the opinion of disappointed aspirants,” he said.
The APC leader attributed the party’s confidence to ongoing Federal Government infrastructure projects in the state, including major highway reconstruction works, as well as what he described as increased federal appointments for Ondo under the Tinubu administration.
He also noted that the APC currently controls all 18 local government areas in the state, saying the party’s grassroots structure places it in a strong position ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The candidates approved by the National Working Committee emerged through due process. They possess the experience, acceptability and political strength to win elections,” Ademujimi added, while commending the party’s leadership for upholding internal democracy during the primary process.
He further urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to spearhead reconciliation among party members after the primaries, calling on aggrieved aspirants to support the party’s candidates and President Tinubu’s administration in the interest of APC’s unity and electoral success.
