Ondo REC assures residents of credible by-election, urges participation

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ondo State, Dr Mutiu Agboke, has assured residents of the state that the commission is fully prepared to conduct a credible, transparent and inclusive by-election.
Agboke gave the assurance on Thursday while featuring on “Periscope,” a radio programme on Orange FM.
During the radio programme, the electoral commissioner said the commission remained committed to delivering a free and fair electoral process that would reflect the wishes of the electorate.
He noted that INEC had continued to make necessary preparations ahead of the forthcoming by-election in the state, expressing confidence in the commission’s readiness for the exercise.
Agboke also used the opportunity to encourage eligible residents of the Sunshine State to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
He urged prospective voters who had yet to register to take advantage of the exercise, describing it as an opportunity for citizens to secure their voting rights.
The REC further advised registered voters who had lost or damaged their Permanent Voter Cards to apply for replacements, while those who had relocated were encouraged to transfer their voter registration to their current places of residence.
