Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have rescued three kidnapped victims along the Oka–Akungba axis in Akoko South West Local Government Area after a fierce gun duel with their abductors.

During the operation, one of the kidnappers was neutralised, while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds.

According to a statement from the command, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit engaged the criminals following credible intelligence and a swift tactical response.

Recovered from the scene were two locally made pistols, expended cartridges, mobile phones, and other personal items belonging to the victims.

The statement added that all rescued victims have been safely reunited with their families.

The Police Command described the operation as a demonstration of its “rapid response capacity, effective deployment of intelligence, and close collaboration with community vigilante groups” in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, while commending the gallantry of the officers, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements threatening peace and safety in Ondo State.
