Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday inaugurated newly appointed members of the State Civil Service Commission, urging them to uphold meritocracy and professionalism in the public service.

The ceremony, held at the State House in Alausa, saw the swearing-in of five commission members, each representing one of the five traditional divisions of Lagos State.

Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, a retired Permanent Secretary and indigene of Lagos Island, was appointed as Chairperson of the commission. Other members include Mr. Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, Mr. Lateef Yahaya Olawale, Mr. Afolabi Olatunji Sobowale, and Mr. Rufus Adekoya Adedapo.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the appointments underscore his administration’s commitment to promoting integrity, fairness, and efficiency in the Lagos State civil service.

“As leaders of the Civil Service Commission, you bear the responsibility of ensuring that the Lagos civil service operates with discipline and meritocracy,” the Governor said. “Your decisions will impact the quality of public services that millions of Lagosians rely on daily — from education and healthcare to security and infrastructure.”

He urged the appointees to lead with transparency, foster innovation, and create opportunities for growth within the service. He also emphasized the importance of accountability, calling on the commission to prioritize the public interest in all its actions.

Congratulating the new members on their appointments, Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in their ability to steer the civil service toward greater efficiency and excellence, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for positive change in the state.
