Tinubu has addressed our concerns on appointment of Northerners – Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent appointments of northerners into key federal government positions, saying the move has addressed earlier concerns about regional imbalance.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, the senator praised the President for his responsiveness to public criticism, particularly from northern leaders who had voiced dissatisfaction over the perceived lack of northern representation in earlier rounds of appointments.

“President Tinubu is someone who responds to constructive criticism,” Ndume said. “I have known him to be a fair-minded, cosmopolitan person. When we raised our voices about the perceived imbalance, he listened.”

The senator noted that many northern leaders, including himself, had openly expressed concern over what they saw as exclusion in earlier decisions, but lauded the President’s swift course correction.

“The hallmark of a good leader and statesman is the ability to adjust when a decision is found unpopular or unfair by a significant segment of the population,” Ndume said. “President Tinubu has demonstrated several times that he is a responsive leader.”

His remarks come amid a wave of new appointments announced by the Presidency in recent weeks, which have included more figures from the northern region in federal agencies and institutions.
