President Bola Tinubu will on Saturday commission a completed 30-kilometer section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway at KM 8, Jakande Estate Area, marking a major milestone in Phase I, Section I of the 700-kilometer mega project.
Kamorudeen Yusuf, Personal Assistant on Special Duties to the President, disclosed this via his X account on Saturday.
The newly completed stretch is expected to significantly ease transportation for residents along the Lekki-Ajah corridor, reducing travel time and costs to Victoria Island — one of Lagos’ main economic centers — while boosting commerce and accessibility across the region.
He said the event is part of a broader rollout of infrastructure initiatives under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to enhance national infrastructure, improve regional connectivity, and stimulate economic growth across Nigeria.
The Ministry of Works has several key projects lined up for commissioning. Among them is the dualization of the East-West Road, stretching from Eleme Junction to Ahoada in Rivers State. Additionally, there will be a significant reconstruction and expansion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, particularly focusing on the Shagamu to Ibadan section.
“These projects are not just about roads — they are about connecting people, opening up markets, and building a more unified Nigeria,” said Yusuf.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the full 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, describing it as a transformative initiative that will unlock economic potential along Nigeria’s southern corridor.
