The Osun State University Alumni Association has inducted fresh graduates of the institution, equipping them with employability and workplace skills to compete in the labour market.
The induction, held on Friday at the Multi-purpose Hall, Main Campus, Osogbo, was part of activities marking the university’s 16th Convocation.
The programme, organised in partnership with Jobberman, focused on digital, entrepreneurial, soft and workplace skills to improve the graduates’ career prospects.
The Global President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Abdulbasit Olalekan Abubakar, said the association had awarded scholarships to 40 students and commenced hostel projects, including a 60-bed facility that is about 80 per cent complete.
He urged the graduates to look beyond their degrees and develop skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
“Gone are the days when getting a degree was the most important,” Abubakar said, urging them to embrace confidence, volunteering and responsibility.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Adebooye, the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Funmilayo Mary Oloyede, urged the graduates to remain good ambassadors of the university.
Career professionals at the programme stressed resilience, continuous learning and skills development, while a graduand, Goshen Nwangwen, said the training would help him develop his business to global standards.
