Wike mourns Dan Orbih, describes him as close friend, political ally

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed grief over the death of Daniel Orbih, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman (South-South), describing him as a close friend and committed political associate.

Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026. His death has drawn condolences from political associates and members of the PDP.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike described Orbih as “a friend indeed” and said his death was a painful loss.

The FCT minister described the late politician as one of the prominent figures in Edo State’s political landscape, saying his death represented the loss of a major political voice.

“I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political associate. But we can’t question God, He gives and He takes,” Wike said.

Wike also described Orbih as a man of faith, commending his character and contributions to politics while extending his condolences to the deceased’s family.

“On behalf of myself, my family and political associates, I commiserate with the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih, on the demise of Chief Dan Orbih, a good friend, a great politician, and a man of faith in the Almighty God,” he said.

Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence, his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as his siblings and other members of his extended family.
