Renowned fashion designer, Yomi Casual, has paid an emotional tribute to his close friend and associate, actor Alex Ekubo, following his burial in his hometown on Thursday.

The designer took to Instagram on Friday to reflect on their friendship, which spanned more than 15 years, describing the late actor as more than a friend and a member of his family.

Yomi said they shared an unbreakable bond built on years of laughter, challenges, victories and mutual support, adding that Alex’s kindness, loyalty and selflessness touched everyone who knew him.

According to him, Alex was a trusted adviser, teacher and brother who always showed up when needed and remained a constant presence in both joyful and difficult moments.

He noted that despite occasional disagreements, they always resolved their differences, stressing that their friendship remained strong despite rumours and attempts by others to create divisions between them.

Yomi also expressed regret over not being with Alex during his final days, saying the actor’s decision to keep his illness private was painful but understandable given the public scrutiny he might have faced.

“I will miss you deeply, Ore. I will miss the calls, the polite insults, ‘Black Goat’, the laughter, the arguments, the business conversations and the brotherhood. Your memory will forever live in my heart,” he wrote.

Alex reportedly died of metastatic kidney cancer on May 11 after a prolonged battle with the illness. He was laid to rest in Arochukwu, Abia State, as family members, friends and loved ones gathered to bid him a final farewell.
