A 29-year-old man, Daniel Olorunyomi, was shot dead by a friend following a land dispute in Ayede, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident reportedly occurred last week around 2:30 p.m. during a confrontation between the two men over ownership of the land.
An eyewitness stated that the suspect approached Olorunyomi while he was engaged in his routine activities.
“The quarrel escalated, prompting the suspect to pull out a firearm and shoot him at close range before fleeing,” the witness added.
Residents rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshot and discovered Olorunyomi lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body has since been deposited at the mortuary, and security operatives have launched an investigation into the incident.
Further details are awaited.
