2027: APC must reconcile aggrieved members to win Lagos – Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged party members to unite ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need to strengthen their relationship with grassroots supporters.

Yilwatda gave the charge at the ongoing Lagos APC Campaign Council retreat at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

He called on all party members, including political appointees and technocrats, to work collectively for the success of the party’s candidates, warning that internal grievances must not undermine the APC’s chances at the polls.

The APC national chairman said the party’s strength lay in the unity of its members, urging them to close ranks and actively participate in voter mobilisation.

“The strength of the APC is in the unity of its members. We must not go to the polls divided. All our appointees must not say they are technocrats and, therefore, do not need to get involved in canvassing support for the party’s candidates. The technocrats must also engage in voter mobilisation. If you don’t want to be a politician, don’t take our appointment. You must work for the party’s victory,” he said.

Yilwatda also called for reconciliation among aggrieved aspirants and members, urging the Lagos APC Campaign Council to address internal disputes ahead of the elections.

He expressed confidence that securing victory in Lagos would significantly boost the party’s chances nationally, citing the state’s voter registration figures.

“We don’t want to lose Lagos again. With seven million registered voters, if we win Lagos, we have won Nigeria. In 2027, we must deliver Lagos for the APC, and all our candidates must be worked for to win at the polls. All hands must be on deck for reconciliation. The anger must not be taken to the polls. I urge the Campaign Director-General to embrace every interest in the party,” Yilwatda said.
