“54 nations. One continent. One historic moment. For the first time, an Olympic sporting event is being held on African soil.

“A celebration of African pride, identity, creativity and the next generation. Tonight, Senegal welcomed the world. And Africa made Olympic history,” the organisers wrote.

Known for her memorable spoken-word declaration, “This is a testament that God is good,” delivered during the 2025 Experience concert organised by the House on the Rock Church, Ibukun was celebrated by the church’s founder, Paul Adefarasin, and his wife on their respective social media pages.

They expressed delight at having recognised her talent during her younger years and provided her with a platform to showcase it to the world, eventually earning her a place at the global event.

The Olympic Games is a global sporting event featuring participants from different countries competing against one another. The games run from 31 October to 13 November 2026, bringing young athletes from around the world to Senegal.
