Adeleke decries slow pace of Ile-Ife flyover, flags off Modakeke road rehabilitation

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the Lagere flyover and dualisation projects in Ile-Ife, urging the contractor to expedite construction.
The governor, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawaale Rasheed, after inspecting the dualisation and flyover works, questioned the contractor’s commitment to the project and warned that the State Government would not accept any further delays.
Adeleke, who was accompanied by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi and Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Bashiru Salami, insisted that the April completion deadline must be met.
“I am dissatisfied with the slow pace of work on this project. This is totally unacceptable. We will not tolerate any further delay. I have promised our father, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the people of Ile-Ife early completion. There should be no room for any further delay,” he said.
Earlier, before inspecting the flyover, the governor flagged off the rehabilitation of the Gbalefefe-Omi-Igbin-Koola-Asabi Famia Road in Modakeke.
Received by Oba (Dr.) Joseph Olubiyi Toriola, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Sesan Oyedele, and Hon. Samuel Oyedotun, Adeleke said his administration embarked on the road rehabilitation in response to the yearnings and aspirations of the Modakeke people. He disclosed that his administration had already completed the rehabilitation of Celestial-Ajape Road and AP-Oronna Road within Modakeke.
Welcoming the governor, the Ogunsua of Modakeke expressed gratitude on behalf of the people, pledging continued support for the governor.
The details of roads flagged off today include:
Gbalefefe–Omi–Igbin–Koola–Asabi Famia Road Modakeke (Phase 1 and 2) – 3 km
Spot patching and rehabilitation of Itasin–Famia Junction–Oke Bode – 2.53 km
Complete overlay from Mayfair Roundabout–Iraye–Ondo Road Junction
