Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has urged residents of Ondo South Senatorial District to maintain peace and support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, in Saturday’s by-election.

The governor made the appeal on Thursday at the APC grand finale campaign rally in Okitipupa, where he was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami.

Aiyedatiwa described Faduyile as a competent and experienced candidate with the capacity to provide effective representation for the people of the district at the National Assembly.

“Prof. Faduyile has the exposure and experience required to protect the interests of Ondo South and ensure quality representation in the Senate,” the governor said.

The Ondo South Senatorial seat became vacant following the appointment of Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations earlier this year.

The governor also called on eligible voters to turn out in large numbers for the election, stressing the need to sustain the quality of representation the district has enjoyed in recent years.

At the rally, APC State Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, while Campaign Committee Chairman, Femi Agagu, said Faduyile’s credentials and wide acceptance positioned him strongly for victory.

In his remarks, Faduyile pledged to pursue a people-centred legislative agenda if elected, promising responsive representation, the attraction of development projects, and effective advocacy for the interests of Ondo South at the National Assembly, as party leaders, government officials and stakeholders from across the district looked on.
