Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, have rescued a couple abducted by suspected kidnappers in Ilu-Abo community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

The victims, Mr. and Mrs Sanusi Kehinde, were reportedly attacked shortly after arriving at their residence around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, as armed men allegedly laid ambush around their home.

Narrating his ordeal after the rescue, Mr. Kehinde said the gunmen assaulted them and dragged them into the forest after intercepting them outside their residence.

“We got home at Ilu-Abo and unknown to us, the kidnappers had already been waiting for us. As I was trying to come out of the vehicle, they attacked and abducted us,” he said.

The victim further disclosed that he sustained machete injuries during the attack but praised Amotekun operatives for their swift response, noting that his wife was rescued barely minutes after the incident was reported.

“The way Amotekun acted was amazing. In less than 10 minutes, they rescued my wife. The commander himself was in the bush during the operation,” he stated.

Mrs Kehinde also recounted how four armed men surrounded their vehicle, pointed a double-barrel gun at her and dispossessed them of valuables before forcing them into the bush.

The couple equally appreciated Amotekun operatives, local hunters, traditional rulers and the Ondo State Government for their efforts in securing their freedom.
