APC’s Faduyile wins Ondo South senatorial by-election with 68,474 votes

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Adedayo Faduyile, has emerged winner of the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election held on Saturday.

The result was announced at the collation centre in Okitipupa by the Returning Officer, Prof. Gbenga Ibileye, after the conclusion of the collation process.

According to official statistics, Faduyile secured a total of 68,474 votes to defeat candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement, Action People’s Party and the Boot Party in the keenly contested poll.

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacant senate seat of the Ondo South Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate.

Speaking while declaring the result, the returning officer announced that the APC candidate satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast.

Faduyile, a former President of the Nigerian Medical Association, also serves as Special Adviser on Health to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

His victory further strengthens the APC’s political dominance in the state, where the party currently controls key elective positions.

Western Post reports that electoral officials are expected to release a detailed breakdown of the results across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district.
