BREAKING: ‘Infrastructure key to Nigeria’s future’ – Tinubu vows increased funding

By Kunle Sanni
President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure across Nigeria.
The president declared that his government would “find more money” to fund infrastructure projects, which he described as the backbone of industrialisation, job creation, and economic growth.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Lekki Deep Sea Port access roads—designed to unlock vital routes for trade, agriculture, and regional connectivity—as well as parts of the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Tinubu said infrastructure development remains central to his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We will find more money to fund our infrastructure,” Tinubu said. “Infrastructure is the backbone of any industrialisation, economic development, and job creation.”
Highlighting the pace of work on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the president expressed satisfaction, noting that over 10km of the 55km stretch in Section 2 had already been completed.
He also commended the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of the Blue Economy for their efforts on the projects.
“I’m very proud and honoured to have you on our team,” Tinubu said, praising the ministers and contractors for what he called “transformational action.”
The president dismissed critics of the tolling system and the ongoing projects, saying, “Forget all the misconceptions. My duty is to affirm our commitment to deliver enduring infrastructure across our great nation. If they don’t like the tolls, they can go to Idumota.”
