Court fixes Sept 9 for continuation of Lagos-based Pastor’s trial

The Magistrate Court in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, has adjourned the case involving a clergyman, Jude Ojo and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to September 9, 2024.

The defendant, Jude Ojo, faces a three-count charge of conspiracy, perversion of the course of justice, and aiding the escape of suspects.

These charges relate to his alleged involvement in helping suspects who threatened the life of High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye, a traditional ruler of the Otumara community, evade justice.

The charges against Ojo stem from his alleged actions on December 31, 2023, when he reportedly stood surety for Shola Adegun, Festus Arowojolu, Friday Arowojolu, and Rotimi Arowojolu, who were accused of conspiracy, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and threatening the life of the traditional ruler.

Despite promising to produce the suspects in court on January 2, 2024, Pastor Ojo failed to do so, leading to charges of perversion of justice and aiding the escape of the suspects.

Meanwhile, in April 26, 2024, Ojo had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
