Operatives of the Ekiti State Security Network, Amotekun Corps, have arrested a 20-year-old man, Dare Omoyajowo, over an alleged sexual assault involving a hearing- and speech-impaired minor in Are-Ekiti.

The corps confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Monday by its Head of Communications, Adeleye Adewale.

According to the statement, the alleged incident occurred on Friday in the Are-Ekiti area of the state.

Adewale said the suspect was arrested by Amotekun operatives after a complaint was formally lodged at the corps’ office.

The victim’s mother reportedly alerted the authorities after her daughter communicated the incident using sign language.

The corps said the suspect was questioned by operatives attached to the Ifedara Local Council Development Area.

Amotekun added that the suspect has been handed over to the Ekiti State Police Command for further investigation and appropriate action.
