Ogun, Lagos investigate fatal accident involving Anthony Joshua

The Ogun and Lagos State governments have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding a road traffic accident involving world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, and others.
Joshua was reportedly involved in the accident earlier on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The vehicle conveying a team of four was said to have collided with a stationary truck, resulting in two fatalities.
In a statement co-signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, and the Special Adviser on Media to the Ogun State Government, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, it was disclosed that Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos.
The statement expressed condolences to the bereaved families, saying: “We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and pray that Almighty God grants them the strength to bear this painful loss.”
It added that, “Anthony Joshua and another passenger were promptly taken to a specialised medical facility in Lagos. Following comprehensive clinical assessments, doctors have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency medical intervention at this time.”
According to the statement, a full medical team has been assembled and will continue to monitor them closely, noting that Joshua is conscious and has been in communication with his family.
The statement further said the governments of Ogun and Lagos States are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that all affected persons receive the best possible medical care, while investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
It also thanked members of the public for their concern and requested privacy for Anthony Joshua and his family at this time.
