Entertainers gather in Lagos to celebrate Michael Jackson ahead of biopic release

Entertainers gathered in Lagos on Sunday to celebrate global pop star Michael Jackson ahead of the release of his biopic, as Nigerian celebrities joined fans worldwide to honour his legacy.
Entertainers from Nollywood, the Afrobeats genre and social media influencers converged in Victoria Island to pay tribute to the late music icon.
The movie, “Michael,” is a biopic produced by Graham King and directed by Antoine Fuqua. It stars Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, in the lead role, portraying the life of Michael, including his struggles before his death.
The film was initially premiered at the O2 Arena in London on April 16, 2026, ahead of its global cinematic release on April 24, 2026.
Following this, fans of Michael have gathered globally to celebrate the project, honouring his legacy through his fashion, music and unique dance styles.
In Nigeria, some of the celebrities who attended the event included Paul Okoye, fondly called Rudeboy, actress Iyabo Ojo, dancer Kaffy, and Big Brother reality TV star Liquorose, among others.
