Enugu set to host 2025 edition of National Festival for Arts

The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) has announced that Enugu State will host the 2025 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), scheduled for November under the theme “Connected Culture.”
The announcement followed a strategic meeting at the Government House in Enugu, where NCAC Director General Obi Asika led a delegation to meet with Governor Peter Mbah and his team. Asika praised the governor’s vision and commitment to cultural development, noting that over 5,000 participants from across Nigeria are expected to attend the festival.
“I am delighted to be back in Enugu. We’ve seen the incredible work Governor Mbah is doing, and we are confident Enugu will host an outstanding NAFEST. Visitors will experience the state’s iconic sites like Awhum Waterfalls, Ngwo Pine Forest, and the new canopy walkway,” Asika said.
Governor Mbah expressed readiness for the event, highlighting efforts to boost tourism and infrastructure. “We are ready to host NAFEST today. Enugu Air launches this month, and we’re investing heavily in our heritage and tourism sites as part of our plan to attract 3 million visitors annually,” he said.
Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, also applauded Enugu’s selection, stating, “I’m excited to be part of NAFEST 2025. The governor’s commitment is clear, and I look forward to a remarkable celebration in Enugu.”
NAFEST 2025, often referred to as Nigeria’s Cultural Olympics, will feature competitive and non-competitive events, from traditional sports and indigenous cuisine to art exhibitions and live music concerts. Key venues include Opara Square, the International Conference Centre, and other cultural landmarks across Enugu.
Highlights of the festival will include the Swag Show, Dance Off Naija, Jollof Wars, traditional wrestling, Dambe boxing, and children’s language competitions. NCAC will also run workshops and talent-building programs to support local creatives.
NAFEST 2025 aims to unite Nigerians through culture, offering a unique platform for states to showcase and celebrate their heritage. Organizers are inviting both Nigerians and international guests to join in the week-long celebration in Enugu.
