Ex-NTI sttudents seek FG intervention over 8-year delay in certificates collection

Students of the 2017 set of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Moro Centre, Osun State, have appealed to the federal government to intervene in the prolonged delay in the release of their certificates.

The affected students, drawn from the English, Mathematics, and Physical and Health Education (PHE) departments, lamented that the delay has denied them opportunities for promotion.

They disclosed that as the pioneer set at the Moro Centre, they are yet to receive their certificates eight years after completing their programme, while those who graduated in subsequent years have already collected theirs.

Speaking with our correspondent in Osogbo on Friday, one of the affected students, Onifade Kolade, stated that the delay has continued to hinder their progress during screening exercises at their workplaces.

“We are appealing to the national headquarters of the NTI, stakeholders in the education sector, and the Federal Government to intervene and save us from the stagnation this issue has caused in our careers.

“The school has informed us that our certificates are still being processed, even after eight years since we completed our courses. Tragically, some of our colleagues have passed away without ever receiving their certificates,” he said.

Another student, Adeolu Tobi, explained that the coordinator had made efforts, with financial support from students, to fast-track the release of the certificates, but all to no avail.

“We have contributed several times whenever our coordinator asked us to support his efforts, but it has not yielded any good results till today,” he disclosed.
