FRSC clears road obstructions in Ondo, renews efforts to ease traffic congestion

The Federal Road Safety Corps on Wednesday commenced a large-scale traffic decongestion exercise in Ondo Town, targeting major gridlock points and removing road obstructions.

The operation, tagged “Operation Orange Impact,” was led by the Ondo Town Unit Commander, Mr Joseph Ajayi, as part of the corps’ community-focused initiatives.

Ajayi said the intervention formed part of the command’s corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing safety on major roads.

He explained that the exercise aligns with the Corps Marshal’s 2026 strategy of promoting road safety through proactive engagement and data-driven actions.

According to him, the operation covered congestion-prone areas such as Sabo, Ife Garage Roundabout, and Lipakala Junction, identified through data as persistent traffic flashpoints.

“In a proactive move to avert secondary crashes, we have removed abandoned and accident-damaged vehicles, as well as other obstructions from critical road corridors,” Ajayi said.

“Such obstructions endanger motorists, especially at night or during poor weather, while temporary repairs are being carried out on damaged road sections in collaboration with community stakeholders,” he added.

Ajayi further assured residents that the command would sustain the exercise through regular interventions, urging motorists to cooperate with officials and avoid abandoning vehicles on highways, while also calling for prompt reporting of emergencies through designated FRSC channels.
