Juju musician St Janet dies after brief illness

Veteran Nigerian juju and highlife musician, Iyun Janet Ajilore, popularly known as St Janet, is dead.

The news of her death was announced on Sunday by publisher and socialite, Otunba Femi Davies, in a post shared on his social media platforms.

According to Davies, the singer died on Saturday after a brief illness.

He described St Janet as a popular juju and highlife artiste known for her energetic stage performances and socially themed party songs.

“St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), a popular Nigerian juju and highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence and socially unfiltered party tracks, is dead. She died after a brief illness on Saturday,” Davies wrote.

St Janet was widely recognised in the Nigerian music scene for her lively performances and distinctive style, which earned her a loyal following, particularly among lovers of juju and highlife music.
