An Akure Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded Ejigbo Ibrahim Oni at the Olokuta Correctional Centre over the alleged possession of a human head that had reportedly been buried.
Oni, who was arraigned by the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, faces a two-count charge of unlawful possession of a buried human head and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The prosecuting counsel, DS Msonter-Shagba, told the court that the alleged offences occurred on February 28, 2026, at about 12:30 a.m. in Supare Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area.
Shagba said the defendant was allegedly found at night in possession of the exhumed head and behaved in a manner capable of disturbing public peace, while stating that such offenses contravene Sections 329 and 249(1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
After pleading “not guilty” to the charges, Oni’s counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, requested that the court grant him bail on liberal terms, assuring that his client would not abscond and would present credible sureties.
As a result, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, directing strict verification measures.
Some details required of the sureties were affidavits of means, passport photographs, proof of gainful employment, and evidence of property ownership for one of them.
The defendant, however, could not meet the bail conditions and was remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, with his case adjourned to May 4, 2026, for hearing.
