The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has secured its first permanent headquarters after 28 years of existence.
This was disclosed by the Director-General of the NFVCB, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, on Tuesday, August 19.
Dr. Husseini expressed gratitude to the minister for her support in facilitating the allocation of the property, which had been under government confiscation since 2017. He led the board’s management team to thank her for her role in making the acquisition possible.
According to him, the NFVCB had waited nearly three decades to own a permanent office and now looks forward to support from the ministry to renovate the building through intervention funds.
“We are grateful for your assistance and recommendations,” he said. “After 28 years, we finally have our own property under your watch. The space will also allow us to establish a long-desired museum.”
He assured the minister of the board’s commitment to supporting her efforts in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of the present administration.
Responding, Musawa praised Dr. Husseini’s leadership, describing him as passionate and exceptional. She said the new headquarters marked a significant milestone for the board.
“I am proud of your doggedness and success in steering the NFVCB in the right direction,” she said. “This new headquarters is a huge achievement, and I look forward to working closely with you to support the president’s vision.”
