Nigeria, a complex country but not difficult to rule, says Obasanjo

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Nigeria is a complex country but not a difficult country to rule.

Obasanjo, stated this on Sunday at the commissioning of VIP lodge of Government house in Osogbo.
According to the elder statesman, “Many people use to say something about Nigeria and you can say that about any state. With my experience, Nigeria is a complexed country but Nigeria is not a difficult country to rule.
“Maybe one can also say the same that Osun State is a complexed state but Osun State is not a difficult state to rule. You have to be honest with your conscience, with the people and with your God.”
Obasanjo who urged the Governor Ademola Adeleke not to mind those castigating him for dancing said only happy people dance,
He said, “some people once despise you that you are a dancer but I said only happy people dance, you are my dancing partner. What I have heard and saw since three days ago have been here, If there is doubt in anybody that you are working, call the person to come and see.
“In project handling, there is no end to it l, but you have to prioritize within priorities, I am happy that you are taking them one after the other. But let the people know that you tried your best because there are records that eyes would see and mouth will say. You are working on roads, don’t joke with it because when we make necessary provision for the people to have jobs, they will work.
“Many Yoruba people want to work but what is impeding that is the road to ply. When we provide wherewithal for them they would work. I will plead with you to continue with that.”
In his remark, Adeleke promised to salvage public funds and assets from waste by showing results of the government policy of completing all abandoned projects by previous administration.
He assured that he would never politicize public infrastructure, saying that political affiliation should never drive what project completed or abandoned because most projects were abandoned by APC administration and completed by PDP.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of Works, Basiru Bello explained that the VIP lodge was abandoned after the administration of Rauf Aregbesola who left it at 35 percent completion.
“However, work commenced on the project three months ago and now it is completed. This lodge can accommodate 5 dignitaries with their team conveniently at a time.”
