Nigeria’s future is bright, be patient, Oluremi Tinubu reassures Nigerians

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and patient as the country undergoes crucial reforms aimed at restoring its lost glory. She reassured citizens that the current administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, is committed to addressing the challenges that have long plagued the nation.
The First Lady made this passionate appeal during her visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Her visit was part of the commissioning of a series of landmark projects at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), including a 2.7 km road, a grand pavilion, a hostel, and a monument, all named in her honour.
While addressing the royal court and the people of Ile-Ife, Senator Tinubu emphasized the administration’s dedication to national development, despite having only been in office for two years. She urged Nigerians to remain patient, stressing that the APC-led government is working tirelessly to turn the country’s fortunes around.
“Nigeria’s challenges are being addressed”
The First Lady acknowledged the removal of fuel subsidies, a move that has sparked widespread debate and discontent. However, she remained optimistic about the decision, stating that it is part of the necessary steps toward long-term national growth.
“We understand that the removal of subsidies has caused concern, but with God’s help, we are confident that in the next two years, Nigeria will emerge stronger and more prosperous,” she declared.
She drew comparisons to the transformation of Lagos under the Tinubu administration, noting how skepticism turned into success. “When we began our work in Lagos, many doubted us, and we faced criticism. But look at Lagos today—it has become a self-sustaining city, generating its own resources. This same transformation can happen in Nigeria. We only need time and patience,” she assured.
A vision for future generations
Senator Tinubu described Nigeria as a “land of prosperity” and reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a future that benefits the next generation. “What we are doing now is laying the foundation to ensure that Nigeria works for our children and their children,” she stated.
Addressing the youth directly, she urged them to embrace hard work and dignity, pointing out the many business opportunities available in the country.
She highlighted a recent initiative where a young Nigerian designer won a N25 million prize for creating a design that has since been mass-produced and distributed.
“The clothes I am wearing today were made right here in Nigeria,” the First Lady proudly noted. “We produced over 200,000 pieces, and they were freely distributed to Nigerians. A 25-year-old designer created this, and we awarded her N25 million for her outstanding work. This is just one of the ways we are encouraging and empowering our youth.”
In addition, Senator Tinubu announced an upcoming contest titled ‘Garden in the Home,’ aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, with a prize of N20 million for the winning design.
Royal commendation for youth empowerment
In his response, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, praised Senator Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and education, describing her visit as a testament to her passion for Nigeria’s growth.
He lauded the First Lady’s efforts in creating opportunities for young Nigerians and ensuring that the country’s future leaders are adequately prepared for the challenges ahead.
“It is in recognition of her contributions to societal development that we gather here to name a 2.7 kilometer road and a pavilion after her within a great institution in Nigeria.
“A golden statue is also erected to immortalize her virtuous person and to showcase the strength of a teacher, a mother and wife in her at the very heart of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife,” the monarch said.
