Osun APC criticises Adeleke for prioritising nightlife

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing him of visiting nightclubs and moving from one state capital to another, using resources that should have been directed to education and other key sectors.
APC chairman Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo, claimed the state’s revenue is being used to “service Adeleke and nurture the stomachs of his unproductive acolytes rather than the welfare of citizens.”
Lawal raised concerns over the high cost of education in state universities, noting that despite substantial allocations to the state, students at UNILESA reportedly pay as much as N1.5 million per session, with accommodation fees of up to N800,000.
He said students in Ilesa are protesting these steep fees, while their counterparts at Osun State University, Osogbo, face similar financial burdens.
“While Governor Adeleke should focus on addressing the plights of students and citizens, he is visiting nightclubs and dancing across state capitals, diverting resources that should fund education and other critical sectors,” Lawal stated.
He further alleged that over the weekend in Ibadan, Adeleke became “a butt of jokes” at a music concert after dancing publicly, describing it as a scene reminiscent of “Nero fiddling while Rome burned.”
Lawal added that at UNIOSUN, some students reportedly pay between N600,000 and N1,000,000 for accommodation, depending on the quality of facilities.
Responding, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson Olawale Rasheed said, “I have judiciously managed state resources to meet critical needs in health, infrastructure, education, business financing, cooperative empowerment, sports, agriculture, technology, workers’ welfare, and pensions. The opposition’s statement is mischievous propaganda and a failed attempt to tarnish this administration’s achievements, as acknowledged by local and international stakeholders.”
