Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who represents Oyo South, has obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections, becoming the first governorship aspirant in the party to do so.

Alli obtained the form on Wednesday alongside other senatorial aspirants, including Senator Yusuf Akintunde, who is seeking to represent Oyo Central, and Honourable Remi Oseni, who is contesting for the Oyo South senatorial seat.

Similarly, several House of Representatives aspirants also picked up their nomination forms. They include Honourable Akeem Adeyemi (Oyo Federal Constituency), Honourable Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem (Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West Federal Constituency), Honourable Akin Alabi (Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency), and Honourable Olamiju Alao-Akala (Ogbomoso South/Ogbomoso North/Orire Federal Constituency).

Speaking after obtaining his form, Alli said his decision to run for governor of Oyo State is motivated by his desire to provide effective leadership and tackle development challenges, particularly at the grassroots level.

He promised to make governance more accessible and responsive to the needs of the people if elected, noting that his political experience has equipped him for the responsibility.

Reflecting on his past roles, Alli recalled his time as a LGA chairman, secretary to the State Government, and Chief of Staff to former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, stressing that those positions helped him gain valuable administrative experience.

He also emphasised on his current role as senator representing Oyo South, stating that he has continued to support initiatives and legislation aimed at improving the welfare of his constituents.

Alli further expressed confidence in his preparedness to lead the state and assured residents of decisive leadership if elected in 2027.
